{"id":600,"date":"2017-06-14T14:03:25","date_gmt":"2017-06-14T14:03:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tauruspackaging.com\/blogbeta\/shrink-sleeve-common-problems-and-their-solutions\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T11:32:56","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T11:32:56","slug":"shrink-sleeve-common-problems-and-their-solutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tauruspackaging.com\/blog\/shrink-sleeve-common-problems-and-their-solutions\/","title":{"rendered":"shrink sleeve common problems and their solutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong><span class=\"color-primary font-title\">Problem 1:<\/span> Wrinkled or Poked appearance<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Root cause: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uneven heat or adequate heat.<\/li>\n<li>Uneven material shrinkage due to type of plastic, decorative inks, coating, embossing or finishes on shrink labels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increase the tunnel temperature or airflow to increase the degree of shrink.<\/li>\n<li>More complex issues require a custom designed solution to optimized the application of heat to the part.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"font-title\"><strong><span class=\"color-primary\">Problem 2:<\/span> Rising<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Root cause: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tapered bottle design.<\/li>\n<li>Too much heat at the top of the bottle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tack label at the lock point of the bottle before entering the shrink tunnel.<\/li>\n<li>Adjust the heat flow from top area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"color-primary\">Problem 3:<\/span> Uneven shrinking<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Root cause: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uneven or inefficient application of heat.<\/li>\n<li>Uneven material shrinkage due to type of plastic, decorative ink, coating and complex bottle shape.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adjust the heat flow up or down to get a more uniform application of heat.<\/li>\n<li>Adjust the tunnel temperature according to type of shrink.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"color-primary\">Problem 4:<\/span> Over shrinking (cow feet shape or tear the material)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Root cause: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Give the heat for long time.<\/li>\n<li>emperature is more according to material.<\/li>\n<li>More complex shape bottle design.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"color-primary\">Problem 5:<\/span> Splitting seals<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Root cause: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bad seals are probably common in shrink wrap.<\/li>\n<li>Sometimes it is less sealed or open.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use proper glue to seal the shrink sleeve according to material.<\/li>\n<li>Sometimes it is unevenness of shrink material.<\/li>\n<li>Sometimes it is without perforation or pin holes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"color-primary\">Problem 6:<\/span> Hair type<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Root cause: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is due to uneven cutting of shrink sleeve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure cutter is ok or cutting speed is uneven.<\/li>\n<li>Film is not uneven in thickness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"color-primary\">Problem 7:<\/span> Ballooning type<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Root cause: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shrink film exposed to hot air after sealing.<\/li>\n<li>Complex shape of container.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pin hole is used or perforation is used<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"color-primary\">Problem 8:<\/span> Picasso effect type<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Root cause: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unevenness of shrinking<\/li>\n<li>More distortion of film.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Solutions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check distortion of design first and conveyor speed also.<\/li>\n<li>Check shelf life of shrink film, each shrink film has its own life for use.<\/li>\n<li>Check if chain temperature is too high.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Problem 1: Wrinkled or Poked appearance Root cause: Uneven heat or adequate heat.
